Calendar
December 2012 – January 2017
Hi all National E Sailors,
All is on target for the Lake Cootharaba Nationals this year.
The dates, start Saturday 29th December, finish Thursday 3rd of January and the format have been confirmed, camping has been booked on the lakes edge, arrangements have been made for the Welcome and Presentation Nights, prizes have been decided and Emily Jones has agreed to wow us with a stunning T shirt design. All we need now is for you to make a commitment to sailing at this great location. Please look at the attached NOR or go to the website http://www.nationale.org.au/wp/ to see the NOR.
Here are the accommodation options.
Please take special note of the fact that the National Executive has booked camping on the lake’s edge at the Boreen Point Campground. If you want to camp there then contact our Treasurer, Brian Clarke directly.
Act Now. As it is a holiday area I’d advise you to make enquiries ASAP.
http://bpre.net.au/p17.htm. This is the local real estate agent. Many of the places available for letting overlook the Lake and everywhere is very close to the Lake.
http://cootharabamotel.com The Cootharaba Motel is a very small (only 5 rooms) motel with apartment style facilities so these rooms get booked very early.
http://www.apollonianhotel.com.au. The local and historic Apollonian Hotel built in the 1860s because of the Gold Rush has accommodation in the restored former railway workers quarters.
http://www.sunshinecoastholidayparks.com.au/holiday_parks/boreen_point_campground/ .
The Boreen Point Campground is right near the Sailing Club and as you can see is right on the water. It is the pick of the camping places. As space is very limited at that time of the year the National Executive has booked 8 sites. 4 sites are booked for 8 days starting the 27th and 4 for 7 days starting the 28th. If you want to stay there then you need to book through our Treasurer, Brian Clarke (Use this e-mail address treasurer@nationale.org.au) and pay him directly before the end of October. As there are very few powered sites we have not been able to pre-book any of those.
Other camping spots are located in Noosa/Tewantin about 17 kms/20-30 minutes away. Check out their web sites
http://www.noosacaravanpark.com.au
Plus of course if Noosa itself appeals to you and you’d rather stay there for its attractions and don’t mind the daily drive then being a holiday area there are many, many places to stay. Just google noosa accommodation
If you are wondering what your family or friends can do in the area remember that the Noosa area is a great blend of spectacular ocean beaches, National Parks and contemporary holiday living. Check out all these options and plan your family holiday.

I look forward to seeing you all at Lake Cootharaba.
Cheers

accommodation.
By clicking on any of the links below you’ll be taken to a google map that shows a list of names, contact and booking details and location of that style of accommodation.
2. Self catering apartments and houses
Wombats B&B “(found in Category 1. Motels, B&Bs) also has self catered accommodation and can take small and large groups and is worth a look as it is very close to the sailing club and sailing area. Other accommodation of this style is a bit further away on the coast. If that would suit you better than you need to get in early as Terrigal and Avoca are more holiday areas.
3. Hotels
It may say sound strange to include hotel listings but the Hotel Gosford is very conveniently located, has a really good looking bistro dining area, great art deco ambience and very good rates. In the words of one our sailors – some of us stayed there earlier this year when GSC hosted the NSW State Titles – “I’ll be looking for a hotel for the week. I know that Hotel Gosford does specials for week long stays. I also like the hotel, I think the 1920s retro is kinda cool. I’d be quite keen to stay there. And who could argue with a base rate of $50 a night !”
As some sort of guide to pricing here are some 7 day stay prices

The sailing conditions at Yarrawonga are just fabulous for dinghy classes. The clubhouse has a grassed foreshore to the waters edge, with two small bays for launching OTB yachts. Lake Mulwala provides great sailing conditions and is easily viewed from a wide range of vantage points, as the sailing area is just offshore and the yacht club is just 2 kms away from the main town area.
The Notice of Race is available here: NOR for Aust Championships 2015-2016
The clubhouse has a large commercial kitchen, a nice lounge room, men’s and ladies toilets/showers. Adjacent to the clubhouse is a public toilet block and a popular children’s playground.
The Yarrawonga town and it’s district has lots for the visitor/tourist. The website www.yarrawongamulwala.com.au has lots of detail and provides that you can book local accomodation in the event that you don’t wish to camp at the club ( but the camping at the club is second to none- it’s most popular and only permitted at regattas).
The Rutherglen wine district is only 30-40 minutes away. You may also wish to view the town map, atwww.yarrawongamulwala.com.au/information/getting-around.html and will see that the close proximity to the town permits easy shopping, coffee shops, hotels, clubs etc. Whilst the sailors sail, there’s heaps for the partners and families to do, just minutes away.
